Remove the key

• Politely ask the driver to exit the vehicle

• Remove the commercial vehicle's key from the ignition or collect the keys from the driver

Securing the Keys

• Attach the commercial vehicle's keys to the lockout device.

• Lock the lockout device to the lockout station or vehicle steering wheel. 

• Remove the lockout device key and hang on the designated key hook.

The lockout device must be secured in a way that it cannot be removed from the lockout station without unlocking the lockout device.

Removing the Lockout Device and Returning the Keys

• Remove the lockout device from the lockout station.

• Remove the commercial vehicle's keys from the lockout device and hand them to the driver.

Only remove the keys from the lockout device once the job has been fully completed, all personnel is clear of the commercial vehicle, and all jacks and chocks removed.

Off-Site Lockout

When you are off-site for a callout, lock the keys to the door handle of the truck.
