Inflations need replaced every 2500 milkings as a maximum. Otherwise they loose efficiency and can contribute to mastitis.

Use a sharp knife or saw to cut through the old inflation at the top of the shell. ALWAYS cut away from yourself!

Now pull the old inflation out of the shell and discard. Wash the shell.

Have your new inflations in hot water.

Pull the new inflation through the shell ( once you’ve cleaned it! ) like this and mild the end over like this.

The inflation has arrows on each end of it or some other mark. It’s important they line up otherwise it is twisted inside the shell.

Now push the inflation onto the bowl. Make sure they are all the way on. Not like this one!

It’s important they hang evenly otherwise they won’t sit on the cow correctly and they won’t milk out properly.

If the air tubes are perished they too need replaced. Again it’s important they aren’t reconnected twisted.
