<p>Navel infections will show some or all of the following signs:</p><ul><li><p>Swollen or thickened navel (sometimes hot and moist)</p></li><li><p>Sometimes painful</p></li><li><p>A pus discharge </p></li><li><p>Temperature above 39.5</p></li><li><p>Lethargic with depressed appetite </p><p></p></li></ul><p></p>

Navel infections will show some or all of the following signs:

Treatment for basic abscesses involves 5-7 days treatment with:

  • Penicillin

  • Amoxicillin

  • Tetracyclines

Always give non steroidals as well such as meloxicam.

If abscess is present burst or lance it.

If there is no improvement in 3 days post treatment it is probable the liver and internal organs are affected and treatment prognosis is poor.
