Needs exposure to bracken fern for 2 plus weeks to see clinical signs. Symptoms depend on how long exposure is for and how much is eaten.

Signs can be sudden and include:

Loss of appetite, depression, ill thrift, fever, scour, drooling of saliva and RED URINE. Death can occur within 1 - 5 days but can continue for weeks.

There is no treatment except treating symptoms and preventing secondary infections. Mortality is above 90%.
