General Notes

  • Read through the fitting instructions before installation of the accessory. Install the accessory following the fitting instructions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle or the accessory.

  • Ensure all recyclable discarded vehicle accessory components and packaging are recycled following local recycling regulations.

  • It is always recommended that this accessory is fitted by a qualified Kia Technician.

  • Safely store and protect any removed vehicle components.

  • Ensure all bare metal surfaces are protected using automotive bare metal primer and touch-up paint, or suitable automotive rust inhibitor.

  • Remove all metal swarf and dust from all vehicle surfaces if surface is used for accessory installation.

  • Check that all work practices comply with safety standards.

  • Please wear appropriate clothing and use safety equipment.

STEP 1

IMPORTANT: Always refer to the vehicle’s Workshop Manual when removing vehiclecomponents.

  • Remove four hex bolts (A) securing the under-body plate (B) and discard both plate (B) and hex bolts (A).

  • Remove and discard the two hex bolts (C) securing the under-body plate (D).

Tools Used

  • Wrench

  • 12mm Socket

STEP 2

  • Disengage the exhaust hanger bushes (A) on both sides of the exhaust as indicated.

STEP 3

  • Slightly bend the wire of the RHS Threaded Plate (10) and place it on top of the chassis at location A.

  • Place the Threaded Plates with Wire (10) on top of the chassis at location B.

Note: The wire will be used to hold the Threaded Plate with Wire (10) in position when installing the Rear Plate (2).

STEP 4

  • Feed the Mounting Plate (9) through the slot in the middle chassis body as shown.

STEP 5

IMPORTANT: Two people are required to complete this step

  • Secure the Rear Plate (2) to the chassis using two M8x70mm Hex Bolts (5), two M8 Flat Washers (6) and two Threaded Plates with Wire (10).

  • Ensure the M8x70mm Hex Bolts (5) pass through the holes in the chassis as shown in the section view.

  • Do not tighten the bolts.

STEP 6

  • Peel the adhesive backing and install the Foam Pad (12) onto the top surface of the Middle Plate (1) aligning to the welded spaces as shown in the image.

STEP 7

IMPORTANT: Two people are required to complete this step

  • Place the Middle Plate (1) over the Rear Plate (2) as shown.

  • Align the Rear Plate (2) hole positions to the Middle Plate (1) hole positions and place the two Spacers (11) between both plates.

  • Secure both plates to chassis using two M10x40 Hex Bolts (4), two M10 Flat Washers (7) and a Mounting Plate (9).

  • Do not tighten the bolts.

Note: Ensure the Middle Plate (1) sits over the Rear Plate (2) as shown and a Spacer (11) is sandwiched between them.

  • 16mm Socket

STEP 8

  • Place three Spacers (11) between chassis and Middle Plate (1) aligning the hole positions in place.

  • Secure the Middle Plate (1) to the chassis using two M8x40 Hex Bolts (3) and two M8 Flat Washers (6).

  • Fit the M8x70 Hex Bolt (5) through the chassis and secure with two M8 Flat Washers (6) and an M8 Nut (8) as shown in top view (A).

  • Do not tighten bolts.

Note: During the installation of M8x70 Hex Bolt (5) along with Spacer (11) at location (A) ensure the Bolt and Spacer are aligned centric and Spacer (11) has even surface contact (both side) at the chassis.

STEP 9

  • Place the two spacers (11) between the vehicle under-body plate (A) and the middle plate (1) and ensure both plate holes are aligned.

  • Secure both Plates to chassis using two M8x40mm Hex Bolts (3) and two M8 Flat Washers (6).

  • Do not tighten the bolts.

Note: Ensure the Middle Plate (1) sits over the vehicle under-body plate (A) and a spacer(11) is sandwiched between them.

STEP 10

  • Tighten the five indicated M8 Hex Bolts (3) (5) to 20Nm

Note: During the tightening of M8x70 Hex Bolt (5) ensure the Bolt and Spacer are aligned centric and Spacer has even surface contact (both sides) at the chassis.

  • Torque Wrench

  • 13mm Socket

STEP 11

  • Tighten two M10x40 Hex Bolts (4) to 41Nm

  • Tighten two M8x70 Hex Bolts (5) to 15Nm.

  • Re-install the exhaust hanger bushes (A) on both sides of the exhaust as indicated.
