How to Prep Eberhard Locks

How to prepare locks for under mount toolboxes, rear drawers, canopies, toolboxes & SB rear doors.

Step 1 of 13

Begin by removing the gold hardware from the eberhard lock. Loosen the 22mm nut and apply high strength loctite to thread.

Step 2 of 13

Using a 22mm socket, tighten the nut with the torque wrench to 8N. ALL locks must be loctited and torque tightened. For an under mount toolbox lock, re-apply gold hardware and fasten. A lock with no stainless eberhard parts are used for an under mount toolbox only.

When putting locks back together you must also ensure that you loctite the top nyloc as well.

Step 4 of 13

You also need to Loctite the locking mechanism. Remove the bolt and all the hardware. Apply red or green loctite to the thread.

Step 5 of 13

Reapply all the hardware you have removed like so. Apply more green or red loctite to the bolt and screw it back in.

Step 6 of 13

For rear drawer locks, loctite then apply the pivot plate then the pivot plate spacer on top. Put nyloc nut back on and fasten.

Step 7 of 13

Remove the barrel, bolt, washer and clamp nut from the original gold eberhard part and apply to the our stainless part like so. This rear drawer lock is now completed.

Step 8 of 13

When making a lock for a canopy or toolbox door, loctite like normal and place original gold parts back on. Take barrel, bolt, washer and clamp nut off the original eberhard part. Apply the stainless strengthener on top and slot the stainless latch on like so.

Step 9 of 13

Fasten all parts down and then apply the barrel, washer and bolt to eberhard latch. You will no longer need the clamp nut for this type of lock as the latch has a thread for the barrel bolt. Slot the latch down to create a 5mm gap between the latch and strengthener as shown.

Step 10 of 13

Apply anti seize on x2 M6x12 stainless steel button heads and tighten onto the strengthener and latch. This latch for a canopy door is completed unless it has central locking. Scroll for central locking instructions.

Step 11 of 13

For a SB rear door lock you will need to loctite then place stainless eberhard parts on like so. Ensure you are using the strengthener with the “R” on it and the rear door pivot plate.

Step 12 of 13

Fasten barrel nut like normal. A SB rear door lock is complete.

If a canopy or toolbox has central locking you will need to add an actuator pin and r-clip to the latch like so. To see if the build includes central locking, check on the printed MRP job sheet or check with the staff at M2 Overland. Actuator pins will be supplied by M2 Overland.
