

Note: We would like to inform end-users about the standard cleaning procedures for the different optical components of our sensors. Improper cleaning technique and/or material can result in damage to optical elements and optical coatings.
Note: A contaminated optical component such as lenses, cover glasses, filters and windows can significantly reduce optical sensitivity, image sharpness and avoid "Abnormal reflections" from the LiDAR Unit. Keeping the optical elements clean is key to extending the life and quality of the optical elements.

PREPARATION
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Wash hands thoroughly before cleaning optical elements. Clean hands minimise the potential for transferring skin oils to the optical surfaces during cleaning.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Wear gloves before handling any optics.

CLEANING MATERIALS
- Gloves
- Bulb blower
- Lens Cleaning Wipes (options below)
- Swabs small/large (options below)
- Cleaning solvents - Acetone 70 - 85% / Ethanol 15 - 30%
- Torch

GETTING STARTED

Cleaning of following optical components
- RCD30/MFC150 Protection cover glass(es) RGB & NIR - inside/outside
- Hyperion Protection cover glass - inside/outside
- Hyperion Scanner Outer Wedge - outside
- RCD30/MFC150 Lenses - inside/outside

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Three different Protection cover glasses for Hyperion H2/H2+ are available:
- H2/H2+ Protection cover glass 85mm - AR
- H2/H2+ Protection cover glass 85mm - AR-NBK7
- H2/H2+ Protection cover glass 85mm - AF
AR = Anti Reflection / AF = Anti Fogging
Note: Cleaning instructions in this knowby are demonstrated on Hyperion Protection Cover Glass. The cleaning instructions are identical for all optical surfaces.

REMOVE DUST
With bulb blower
Blow away dust with bulb blower.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Blowing with a bulb blower removes the dust and should prevent scratching of the optics.

PRE-CLEANING (OPTIONAL)
With lens cleaning tissues/wipes
Fold lens cleaning tissue paper.
Apply few drops of cleaning solvents to the folded edge of the tissue.
Clean the optic with wet folded edge. Use light pressure and a circular motion.
Note: Repeat this process until clean, always with new lens tissue paper.

CLEANING
With cleaning swabs
Moisten cleaning swab with cleaning solvents.
Shake swab before use to make sure they are not too wet to avoid streaks.
Clean the optic with moistened swab. Use light pressure and clean slow and steady with a circular motion.
Note: Repeat this process until clean, always with new cleaning swab.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: For cleaning of outer wedge with cleaning solvents, make sure not to clean into black epoxy paint (a) on the outer edge of the wedge with moistened swab.

CHECK USING A TORCH
Inspect cleaned surface with a torch from different viewing angles to make sure it is clean and no streaks or drying marks are visible.

STORAGE (OPTIONAL)
In membrane box or wrapped in lens tissue
Clean the storage box, same as you do your optics, e.g. Cover, Membrane box.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Blowing with a bulb blower removes the dust and should prevent scratching of the optics.
Note: Optics should be stored in a box designed for the optic, e.g. Membrane box or wrapped in lens tissue and inside an optic storage box.
