<h5><strong>Penetration Test:</strong></h5><h5><br>Before application, ensure the concrete surface is clean, dry, and absorbent by performing a water droplet test. Apply a small amount of clean water to the surface. If the water is absorbed into the concrete within a few minutes, the surface is suitable for treatment. If the water beads or remains on the surface, further surface preparation may be required before application.</h5><p>Take clear photographs of the test area before application to document that the concrete surface is clean, suitable, and sufficiently absorbent. These photos should be retained as part of the project QA documentation.</p>
Penetration Test:

Before application, ensure the concrete surface is clean, dry, and absorbent by performing a water droplet test. Apply a small amount of clean water to the surface. <p><strong>Measure and Calculate Product Requirements:</strong></p><p>Measure the length and width of the concrete slab and calculate the total area in square metres (m²).</p><p>The recommended application rate for <strong>A7000</strong> is <strong>2 m² per litre</strong>.</p><p>To determine the amount of product required:</p><blockquote><p><strong>Litres Required = Total Area (m²) ÷ 2</strong></p></blockquote><p>Round up to the nearest whole litre to ensure there is sufficient product to complete the application. Record the slab dimensions, total area, and calculated product requirement as part of the project documentation.</p>

<p><strong>Begin Application</strong></p><p>Ensure the concrete surface is clean and free from dirt, dust, curing compounds, coatings, oil, grease, or any other contaminants. Water blast the entire surface before application and allow it to dry sufficiently if required.</p><p>Apply <strong>A7000</strong> using an <strong>airless</strong> or <strong>motorised low-pressure sprayer</strong> to ensure the product is properly atomised and evenly distributed across the concrete surface.</p><p>Maintain a consistent spray pattern and apply the product uniformly at the specified application rate of <strong>2 m² per litre</strong>. Avoid ponding or excessive overspray, ensuring the entire surface receives an even treatment.</p>

Apply A7000 in light, back-to-back spray passes until the concrete reaches the point of saturation. This is typically achieved when the recommended coverage rate of 2 m² per litre has been applied.

The correct application point is when the surface appears uniformly wet and runoff is just about to occur. Avoid excessive application that results in pooling or significant runoff. The product should penetrate the concrete rather than remain on the surface.

Begin with the next pass when the treated area has absorbed the AQURON 7000 treatment (lost surface sheen). Do not allow first application to dry; subsequent applications is applied to surface while still damp from first application. If required dampen the surface with water prior to applying.

Begin application at the lowest point of the area being treated and work progressively upwards. For vertical surfaces, always apply the product from the bottom up to minimise streaking and ensure even penetration.

Maintain a consistent spray pattern and overlap each fan spray pass by 25–30% to achieve complete and uniform coverage across the entire surface.

If a surface coating or membrane is to be applied after treatment with A7000, allow a minimum of 72 hours following application. After this curing period, thoroughly flush the treated surface with clean water and allow it to dry completely before applying the coating. This ensures optimum adhesion and performance of the subsequent coating system.

There should be <strong>no dry patches, excessive pooling, or significant runoff</strong>. The product should be visibly penetrating the concrete, with the surface remaining wet only until absorption occurs.</p><p><strong>The finished application should look similar to the example shown below.</strong></p>

Continue Application

Once you have observed the product beginning to penetrate the concrete, continue applying A7000 using the same application method and spray technique described in the previous step.

Maintain a consistent spray pattern with 25–30% overlap, applying the product in light, back-to-back passes until all of the calculated A7000 has been evenly applied across the remaining treatment area.

Continue working section by section, ensuring each area reaches the point of concrete saturation without excessive pooling or runoff. Monitor penetration throughout the application and adjust your pace as required to achieve uniform coverage.

<p><strong>Observe penetration.</strong></p><p>Continue to monitor the treated area and allow <strong>A7000</strong> to penetrate the concrete. During this stage, larger sections of the surface should begin to absorb the product, indicating that the concrete is approaching full saturation.</p><p>Additional points:</p><p>If you are not getting the spread rate of 2m2/L, you might have to do this over a couple of application.</p>

Continue to monitor the treated area and allow A7000 to penetrate the concrete. During this stage, larger sections of the surface should begin to absorb the product, indicating that the concrete is approaching full saturation.

Conclusion and Expected Results

Throughout this project, a variety of application techniques were trialled under different site conditions and changing weather. Based on our experience, the application method outlined in this guide consistently delivered the best results, regardless of the conditions.

By following these procedures, applicators can achieve:

  • Consistent concrete penetration.

  • Uniform product coverage at the recommended application rate.

  • Reduced product wastage through minimal pooling and runoff.

  • Reliable performance across a wide range of concrete conditions.

Following this methodology will help ensure the A7000 is applied correctly, maximising product performance and supporting the successful completion of the project.

<p><strong>Trainer Sign-off</strong></p><p>Once you are satisfied that the trainee can safely and correctly carry out the application without assistance, have them complete the <strong>Competency Assessment</strong> to confirm their understanding and practical ability.</p><p>If the trainee is assessed as <strong>Not Yet Competent</strong>, review the areas where they did not meet the required standard, provide additional coaching and practical training, and repeat the assessment. The reassessment may be completed at a later date once the trainee has had sufficient opportunity to develop the required skills.</p><p>Only sign off the assessment when you are confident the trainee has demonstrated the knowledge and practical competency required to perform the task safely, consistently, and in accordance with this procedure.</p>

Trainer Sign-off

Once you are satisfied that the trainee can safely and correctly carry out the application without assistance, have them complete the Competency Assessment to confirm their understanding and practical ability.

If the trainee is assessed as Not Yet Competent, review the areas where they did not meet the required standard, provide additional coaching and practical training, and repeat the assessment. The reassessment may be completed at a later date once the trainee has had sufficient opportunity to develop the required skills.

Only sign off the assessment when you are confident the trainee has demonstrated the knowledge and practical competency required to perform the task safely, consistently, and in accordance with this procedure.
