Trailer Dolly Service
The purpose of this SWI is to provide instruction for all personnel who carry out servicing on trailers or dollies. It is used to make those involved with this task aware of the potential hazards that exist and enable them to complete the job safely and competently.

− General Workshop tools and equipment

− Equipment Service sheets

− SLP training (fuels)

− OEM Manual

− Site inductions

<p><strong>MANDATORY PPE</strong></p><p><br></p><p>− Hearing Protection to be carried on you at all times</p><p>− Safety glasses</p><p>− Long sleeve hi vis shirt</p><p>(Overalls are an acceptable alternative)</p><p>− Gloves to be carried on you at all times (when not in use)</p><p>− Long pants</p><p>− Steel cap safety boots</p><p><br></p><p>Additional PPE&nbsp;</p><p>− Impact gloves</p><p>− Working at heights PPE as required</p>

<p><strong>Conduct a visual assessment of service</strong></p><p>− Final check to ensure the equipment is secure tags in place and wheels</p><p>chocked.</p><p>− Conduct an initial walkaround inspection of the lights, reflectors, mirrors,</p><p>registration, and service stickers.</p><p>− Ensure that the trailer is unloaded before commencing service.</p>

<p><span><strong>Conduct Service</strong></span></p><p><span><strong><br></strong></span></p><p>− Isolate energy as required</p><p>− Using the Trailer Dolly Service Sheet check or inspect each item, ensure to</p><p>complete the sheet as you go to ensure no points are overlooked. All items</p><p>to be inspected to the OEM tolerances guidelines</p><p>− Caution to be taken when inspection points under the trailer to prevent injuries</p><p>from awkward positions or bumping head on equipment.</p><p>− Never work under suspended equipment without the appropriate stands.</p><p>− Ensure all suspended decks or structures on trailers are secured.</p><p>− All defects and required repairs to be reported as per the Toll Maintenance</p><p>procedure.</p><p>Note: No service maintenance is to be carried out on loaded trailers.</p>

complete the sheet as you go to ensure no points are overlooked. All items

to be inspected to the OEM tolerances guidelines

− Caution to be taken when inspection points under the trailer to prevent injuries

from awkward positions or bumping head on equipment.

− Never work under suspended equipment without the appropriate stands.

− Ensure all suspended decks or structures on trailers are secured.

− All defects and required repairs to be reported as per the Toll Maintenance

procedure.

Note: No service maintenance is to be carried out on loaded trailers.

<p><strong>Servicing a tanker</strong></p><p>− Using the ‘Trailer-Dolly Service Sheet’ check or inspect each item, ensure to</p><p>complete the sheet as you go to ensure no points are overlooked.</p><p>− Confirm the liquid type and relevant SDS information</p><p>− Raise handrails. Fall arrest to be worn when working at heights. (NOTE</p><p>− Workers undertaking service of fuel tankers must have SLP training</p><p>− NOTE: The need for safety equipment and the nature of the equipment will</p><p>depend on the nature of the road tank vehicle’s cargo.</p>

− Using the ‘Trailer-Dolly Service Sheet’ check or inspect each item, ensure to

complete the sheet as you go to ensure no points are overlooked.

− Confirm the liquid type and relevant SDS information

− Raise handrails. Fall arrest to be worn when working at heights. (NOTE

− Workers undertaking service of fuel tankers must have SLP training
