How to use the bandsaw safely in the meat department
1
Step 1 of 11

Make sure you follow these steps.

The band saw is very dangerous.

2
Step 2 of 11

This line shows where to place the pusher to keep your hand safe.

3
Step 3 of 11

And this right here is to show you how thick you want to make the steaks.

4
Step 4 of 11

That’s the protection plate.

You can slide it back and forth.

It helps guide the meat while you’re cutting.

5
Step 5 of 11

This is the push plate.

Slide it forward until it reaches the line.

This keeps everything in the correct position while you cut.

6
Step 6 of 11

Once the meat reaches that point, use the push plate to keep your hand safely away from the blade.

7
Step 7 of 11

When you’re using a band saw, don’t talk — stay focused.

Never set the blade higher than necessary.

8
Step 8 of 11

The blade is too high that the meat could spin on you. And that's very dangerous.

9
Step 9 of 11

So that's how high you want to have the guide on top of the meat.

10
Step 10 of 11

But if the blade is too high and the meat spins, you could lose your fingers.

That’s why you keep the guide close on top of the meat.

11
Step 11 of 11

If you keep the blade just on top of the meat, you stay safe.

Your hand naturally stays out of the way.

And if it does touch anything, it will hit the guide — not the blade — so you won’t lose a finger.
