What you should know about working with asbestos
Anyone working on building fabric may disturb asbestos, including electricians, plumbers, roofers, and painters. Buildings before 2000 likely contain asbestos, but newer ones can too. Disturbed asbestos releases hazardous fibers, causing lung disease and cancer. Protect yourself to avoid health risks.
