How to Change an LED Driver

If your sign isn't turning on and you feel like it's an LED power supply or an LED driver, I'm going to show you how to go ahead and take out the old one and put in a new one to make sure that your sign turns on again.

If your sign isn't turning on and you feel like it's an LED power supply or an LED driver, I'm going to show you how to go ahead and take out the old one and put in a new one to make sure that your sign turns on again.

So first things first is we always turn off the power or the electricity to make sure we don't accidentally get shocked.

Step 2 of 11

Once you unplug or flip the switch and you know that the power is off, you use the tester, you know you're good, you can go ahead and start disconnecting everything.

This is the part that comes from the building, this is 110 volts, should be good.

We disconnected it. Now this is free. I'll go ahead and disconnect the portion that connects to the sign or the LED fixture.

Now we should be left with two wires, one that's coming from the building that's giving 110 volts, that one we need to be careful, and the one that's coming from the sign or the fixture that we're going to take our old LED driver and get a new LED driver, then we're going to go ahead and swap them.

When it comes to the main power, we go ahead and connect the blue to the black, brown to the white, and yellow to the green.

I'll do that now. Now that I have these connected, I'm going to go ahead and do the other side, the output.

We just worked on the input, now we're going to work on the output. I'm going to go ahead and connect the blue with the black and the red with the brown.

On the output side, this does matter, so if your sign does not turn on or your light fixture does not turn on, it's possible you need to flip these wires.

Now everything is connected again, I'm going to go ahead and turn on the power and see what we get.

Awesome, our light is now on, our sign is working, and we're good to go.
