BUT if any of the below symptoms are present consider Salmonella

  • The temperature is high (40 plus)

  • Can cause respiratory symptoms as well (breathing above 50 per minute)

  • Calf aged between 3 and 14 days

​SALMONELLA is high on list​

  • If there is no temperature rise.

  • The calf is older 2 weeks plus

  • The calf is straining to pass faeces

  • Mob effect usually COCCIDIA is a likely diagnosis​

COCCIDIA Usually occurs from 1 - 2 weeks of age up to several months. Takes three weeks from ingestion to shedding lifecycle. Most cases are subclinical but stress and overwhelming loads will cause blood scours.
