Forklift Rating Plate
- Should be readable
Walk around Forklift for any visable damage
- Make sure all guards are in place and no damage.
Gas Bottle
- Check it is turned on, undamaged and secured properly
Check Tyres/Wheels
- No damage, excessive dirt or wear, rust, cracks, splits or seperation from rim. All wheel nuts in place
Seatbelt & Seat
- Seatbelt works and should automatically retract
- Seat condition OK

Access
- Steps and grab handles should be in good condition and clean
Access Engine Compartment
- Lean backrest forward, then slide seat forward
Lift cover (with finger pull) to access engine bay
Check Fluids (Engine Oil)
- Pull out dipstick and wipe clean
Check Fluids (Engine Oil)
- Redip then check it is in the normal range
Check Fluids (Hydraulic)
- Hydraulic fluid Remove cap and wipe with rag
Check Fluids (Hydraulic)
- Redip then check fluid is in correct range
Lift off front cover
Check Fluids (Transmission)
- Remove dipstick, wipe clean with a rag
Check Fluids (Transmission)
- Redip dipstick Check fluid is within correct range
Refit cover plate
Check air filter is clean
- Blow off if dusty
Close then readjust seat position
Check tynes for cracks or sharp edges

Mast No damage distortion or cracks. Inspect hydraulic hoses for obvious leaks

Engine bay should be clean, no leaks
Check seat is in good condition

Check controls are clearly marked

Check all controls are working.
- Steering
- Brakes
- Hand Brake
Controls (Post-Start) Check all are working.
- Hydraulic lift
- Tilt
- Sideshift
- Fork Width
Horn
- Check it is clearly audible BEEP!
Lights & Beacon
- Should be visible and operational
Any unusual noise/vibration/odour?
