A Guide on How to Operate the Bandsaw

Check for coolant in the coolant reservoir.

Use tank water only to fill up the reservoir.

Leave the bottle in this compartment.

Wear appropriate hearing and eye protection when operating equipment.

Place the material to be cut in the bandsaw on the vice.

Use the handle on the end to pick it up. You can pick it up to whatever height depending on the size of the material you need to pass through.

Then pass your material through to the specific length you want to cut.

Move the locking plate up against your material.

Crank the handle in a clockwise position to secure. This should be firm - not super tight and not loose.

And to undo it (if required), you can turn this backwards.

Familiarise yourself with the emergency stop button.

  • When the bandsaw is operating, hit the red button to stop the saw.

  • To deactivate the emergency stop button, twist the button and it will pop out.

Note how to set your speed with the speed control dial.

Usually, we run between one and one and a quarter.

Note that if you roll the dial back (clockwise), the saw will be locked in the up position that you lifted it to.

Note that changing the speed dial will make the saw drop down faster or slower.

Once you've positioned your material with the desired length you want cut, you can then hit the on button.

Wait for the coolant to come through.

Then you can turn the speed dial (to approx one and a quarter).

Step away to a safe distance from the equipment. It will slowly cut and stop when it reaches the bottom.

Once complete, return your down feed speed to zero.

Lift the bandsaw so it's clear and undo the clamp.

Retrieve your material.
