Day 2-3 poorly recovered

Step 1 of 11

If poorly recovered on day 2 or 3 draft them for examination. Also draft the same number of cows that are recovered again at day 2 or 3.

Grant will blood test and examine them.

Step 3 of 11

Temperature, metricheck, mastitis and rectal exam.

Step 4 of 11

Bloods will be taken from both recovered and poorly recovered cows.

All cows will be aged and BCS

Step 6 of 11

All cows will be tracked for length of time in transition herd.

Step 7 of 11

All cows will be tracked 10 days pre calving to now with rumination rate.

Step 8 of 11

Half poorly recovered cows will be given calcium bolus on half farms.

Step 9 of 11

Half poorly recovered will get meloxicam on half farms.

Step 10 of 11

All poorly recovered cows will remain in OAD mob.

Step 11 of 11

Time to recovery will be recorded and time to first heat.
