Cow shed start up - pm

Check the yard. Is it set for where you want the cows to go?

Make sure filter in folded down and bungs secure x2

Put Filter in the filter holder - making sure the sides of the filter sock don’t get damaged when putting in.

Put the top of the filter holder on and tighten. Ensure a good even seal

Wet down the Inside of the cow shed. This will make clean up easier at the end of milking

To turn on the cowshed turn the vacuum pump switch to “variable vacuum”

Cups should now all pull up ready for milking.

It’s good practice once one round of cows is on and milking to check a few things.

A few other things to check on the first round of milking

  • Is the teatsprayer operating?
  • Is the inshed feed dispensing feed?
  • Are the cows exiting the cowshed as they should?
