General Notes

  • Read through the fitting instructions before installation of the accessory. Install the accessory following the fitting instructions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle or the accessory.

  • Ensure all recyclable discarded vehicle accessory components and packaging are recycled following local recycling regulations.

  • It is always recommended that this accessory is fitted by a qualified Kia Technician.

  • Safely store and protect any removed vehicle components.

  • Ensure all bare metal surfaces are protected using automotive bare metal primer and touch-up paint, or suitable automotive rust inhibitor.

  • Remove all metal swarf and dust from all vehicle surfaces if surface is used for accessory installation.

  • Check that all work practices comply with safety standards.

  • Please wear appropriate clothing and use safety equipment.

Step 1

IMPORTANT

Always refer to the vehicle’s Workshop Manual when removing vehicle components.

  • Remove the four scrivets holding the bed cap. Discard bed cap and all hardware.

  • Repeat for LHS.

TIP: Recommended to use an 8mm Socket to remove the bed cap without breakage.

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step 2

IMPORTANT

Perform this step only if the tub liner is fitted.

  • Remove and discard the four scrivets (A) holding the tub liner as shown.

Tools Used

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver.

Step 3

  • Remove the four screws (A) holding the tailgate cap (B) and remove.

  • Retain the screws and discard the tailgate cap.

Tools Used

  • Wrench

  • T30 Torx Tool.

Step 4

  • Remove the three torx screws and hooks from tub (if present) and discard.

  • If no tub liner is present move to step 6.

  • If a tub liner is present, place the Paper Template (27) on the tub front RH corner as shown and align with the two holes (B) in the tub and top edge of the tub liner as shown on the template.

  • Using a Non-Permanent marker, trace the template on the tub liner as shown.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Step 5

IMPORTANT

Perform this step only if the tub liner is fitted.

  • Mark the line on the tub liner using a non-permanent marker, 45mm from top of the tub liner.

  • Trim the tub liner along the marked line on the front face of the tub and along the markings for the Reinforcement Brackets traced earlier.

  • Deburr and clean the edges.

Step 6

  • Test fit the Bedrail Cap RH (6) to the tub and note the areas where the double sided tape will adhere. Remove the Bedrail Cap RH (6).

  • Clean the area of the tub where the tape will be applied using the Alcohol Wipes (20) and apply Primer (19), allow to dry for 2min.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Step 7

  • On the Bedrail Cap RH (6), peel the double-sided tape liner (A,B,C,D,E) completely off and partially (50mm) from one end only for liner (F) as shown.

  • Place the Bedrail Cap RH (6) on the tub side rail and secure with one Fir Tree Clip (13).

  • Set the bed cap so the outside lip is not sitting proud of the tub (see detail). Once in position press down on tapes and remove the liner (F).

  • Repeat for LHS.

Step 8

  • Measure and mark 60mm from the existing hole in the tub rear RHS part of the side rail as shown.

  • Drill into the tub sheet metal a Ø5mm pilot hole followed by Ø10mm hole, set to a 10mm drill stop.

  • Apply Rust Inhibitor (26).

  • Repeat for the LHS.

Step 9

  • Test fit the Tailgate Cap (3) to the tailgate and note the areas where the double sided tape will adhere. Remove the Tailgate Cap (3).

  • Clean the area for the tape using the Alcohol Wipes (20) and apply Primer (19), allow to dry for 2min.

Step 10

  • Peel the liner completely off from the underside of the Tailgate Cap (3) in all nine locations (A).

  • Place the Tailgate Cap (3) on top of the tailgate and align with screw holes, as well as positioning rearwards (see section view).

  • Push the Tailgate Cap (3) firmly to ensure full adhesion of the adhesive tape.

  • Secure the Tailgate Cap (3) with two previously retained

Step 11

  • Peel the liner completely off from the underside of the Tailgate Rail (2).

  • Place the Tailgate Rail (2) centrally on top of the Tailgate Cap (3).

  • Push the Tailgate Rail (2) firmly to ensure full adhesion of the adhesive tape.

  • Using the seven holes in the Tailgate Rail (2) as a guide, Drill Ø5.5mm holes into the tailgate.

  • Apply Rust Inhibitor (26).

  • Secure the Tailgate Rail (2) with seven Rivets (15), (see section view).

Note: Apply pressure downwards before drilling holes once in position.

Step 12

  • Place the Reinforcement Bracket RH (9) on the tub and align with existing holes.

  • Remove any sealant obstructing the Reinforcement Bracket RH (9) from seating correctly.

  • Enlarge existing hole (A) to 11mm.

  • Apply Rust Inhibitor (26) to hole (A).

  • Using a Rivnut Tool fit the M8 Rivnut (22).

  • Secure the Reinforcement Bracket RH (9) to the tub with five M8x30 Torx

  • Screw (18) and torque to 20Nm.

  • Repeat for the LHS.

  • Deburring Tool

  • T40 Torx Tool

  • Torque Wrench

  • Utility Knife.

Note - This video does not have a tub-liner. Please disregard this.

Step 13

  • Place and centralize the Header Rail (4) on the tub and mark the three holes (A) on the front face of the tub.

  • Remove the Header Rail (4).

  • Drill the marked positions (A) with Ø11mm Drill Bit, set a 10mm drill stop.

  • Apply Rust Inhibitor (26) to holes. Using nutsert tool fit the three M8 Rivnuts (22).

Tools Used

  • Drill

  • Ø11mm Drill Bit

  • Drill Stop

  • Rivnut Tool.

Step 14

IMPORTANT

(Only install cover plate if tub liner is fitted.)

  • Apply Foam Tape (12) to the top and bottom of Header Rail (4) (see section view).

  • Place the Header Rail (4) on the tub along with the Cover Plate (23

  • If using a Cover Plate (23) then it should be placed on top of the Header Rail (4).

  • Secure with three M8x30 Torx Screw (18) and torque to 20Nm.

Note: Press down on Header Rail when installing.

Tools Used

  • T40 Torx Tool

  • Torque Wrench.

Step 15

  • Apply Silicone between the Header Rail (4) and Bedrail Cap RH (6) to close the gap.

  • Spread the Silicone evenly and level with the tub.

  • Repeat for the LHS.

Step 16

  • Install the Front Side Bracket (10) and two Rear Side Brackets (11) as shown using six M8x30 Torx Screw (18) and three M8 Backing Plates (21) as shown in the section view.

  • Position each bracket 6.5mm above the Bed Rail Cap (A).

  • Torque to 20Nm.

  • Repeat for LHS.

  • T40 Torx Tool

  • Torque Wrench.

Step 17

  • Remove the bottom part of the rear LHS wheel arch to allow feeding the Vehicle Harness (25) from inside the tub down to the floor.

  • Install the supplied fuse in the fuse holder on the Vehicle Harness (25).

Note: Feed the black connector on the Vehicle Harness (25) into the tub.

  • Feed the Vehicle Harness (25) into the tub through the gap in the tub wall as shown.

  • Connect the Patch Harness (24) to the vehicle harness as shown inside the tub.

Tools Used

  • Draw Wire

  • Masking Tape.

Step 18

  • On the LHS under the tub locate the factory harness placed along the chassis rail. The connector (A) will have a blanking plug, remove the blanking plug and discard.

Note: The factory harness may be taped to the vehicle under body. If required for access remove this tape.

  • Secure the Vehicle Harness (25) to the inside panel with adhesive tie pad in location (A).

  • Fit the edge clip to the tub in location (B).

  • Continue routing the Vehicle Harness (25) towards the connector on the inside chassis rail.

  • Connect the Vehicle Harness (25) to the connector (A).

  • Secure the Vehicle Harness (25) to the inside panel with the adhesive pad located on the harness in location (B).

  • Open the rear door of the Canopy (1) and place it gently onto the tub using four people and align it to the holes in the Front Side Brackets (10) and Rear Side Brackets (11) in all six locations as shown.

Note: Premium Canopy shown.

Step 22

  • Secure the Canopy (1) to the Front Side Bracket (10), with M8x40 Hex Bolt (17), two M8 Large Flat Washers (14) and M8 Clutch Nut (16) as shown in the section view.

  • Secure the Canopy (1) to both of the Rear Side Brackets (11) with two M8x30 Torx Screws (18), two M8 Large Flat Washers (28) and two M8 Clutch Nuts (16) as shown.

Note: The Bolts should be finger tightened only.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Note: Position the Canopy (1) toward the tailgate to achieve the best fitment result.

Step 23

  • With one person inside the Canopy, slowly close the rear canopy window, and note how it closes. It should not touch the top of the tailgate but should fully compress the rubber extrusion of the Tailgate Rail (2).

  • Check side alignment, ensure that the canopy body sits centrally on the tub. Adjust if necessary. Torque the Brackets in the order below:

  • Torque the M8x40 Hex Bolts (17) securing the Front Side Brackets (10) to canopy to 20Nm.

  • Torque the two M8x30 Torx Screws (18) securing the Rear Side Brackets (11) to canopy to 13Nm.

  • T40 Torx Tool

  • 13mm Socket

  • Torque Wrench.

Step 24

  • Visually check the canopy side level.To adjust the level, lower or lift the 3 side brackets on the required side of tub. Loosen the six M8x30 Torx Screws (18) holding brackets to the tub and torque to 20Nm after adjustment.

  • Remove the setting cable from the canopy by removing the scrivets from either side.

Step 25

  • Connect the 3 connectors from the Patch Harness (24) to the Canopy Harness (A) as shown.

  • Secure the wiring with cable ties and attach to the canopy rail where possible.

STRIKER ADJUSTMENT GUIDE

WINDOW LATCHING CHECK

Step 1

  • Ensure the latch reaches the 2nd stage position as shown, and the striker is central inside the latch.

  • If the striker is not reaching the second stage, then it is not centrally aligned or the window has lopsided clearance, please follow step 2.

Step 2

  • If Striker hoop is too low or too high, adjust bolts to ensure Latch Cam connects, clicks and locks to the second stage simultaneously on both sides.

  • Ensure that when closing, the Cam Latch does not catch the sides of the edges of the Striker Hoop. The Striker Hoop is required to be centrally aligned to avoid this. Adjust the X value accordingly to achieve central alignment.

  • Carefully close the window, ensuring the glass does not contact the tailgate. Ensure there is a minimum 9mm gap (15mm max).

  • For an appropriate seal and correct latching to occur, the clearance gap must be within the values specified and also be approximately equal on both sides of the canopy. Adjust the X value accordingly to achieve this.

Example: If the LHS clearance gap is 12mm, the RHS clearance gap must be

12 (+/-) 3mm.

  • Once all appropriate adjustments have been made, torque bolts to 9Nm.
