

Before Starting Application, please read:
Confirm enough product is available for all jobs on the day and more for unexpected inaccuracies.

Read the hazard board and site Safety requirements and sign in on entry to the site.
Confirm the pour size, location and walkthrough, preferably with the site manager.
Confirm if the cure and seal time is sufficient to complete the application on time.
Check what is required or what unique requirements the job has. If it is different from the job details, please get in touch with the team leader
Take note of environmental conditions like wind, rain or smoke. If the conditions are not conducive to a safe and effective application, please get in touch with the team leader.
Prepare the area to be treated. Aquron cannot be applied if debris, water, spills, sawdust, excess slurry or other workers are on the slab. Call the team leader or seek assistance using the Markham Applicator WhatsApp chat.
Measure the slab and calculate the overall area in m2 (length x width.)
Calculate how many litres are needed to treat the concrete using the following spread rates:
A2000 & Medi+: 5-6m2/L
A1000: 6-7m2/L
Area in m2 ÷ spread rate = total litres needed
E.g. 500m2 to be treated with A2000 or Medi+ would be:
500 ÷ 5 = 100L
N.B. These spread rates are based on region, temperature and concrete. If these rates cannot be met, contact your team leader for guidance and/or approval.
Each pail is 20L of product. To calculate how many pails are required for the application:
Area in m2 ÷ spread rate = total litres needed Total litres needed ÷ 20 = number of pails required
E.g. 500m2 to be treated with A2000 or Medi+ would be:
500 ÷ 5 = 100L Then 100 ÷ 20 = 5 pails
Application:
Before application, ensure the product is atomised for maximum penetration. All sprayers should be spraying between 150-200psi. Do not run any machine dry to start. Pour product to fill pump before full operation. Ensure tips are in good working order and spraying freely. Clear any debris in the nozzles with a brush.
Walk quickly and steadily across the slab, systematically applying an even coat of product to the slab. Overlap each path across the slab by 100mm to ensure all areas have been coated.
Wait for the product to be absorbed. The rate at which Aquron will be absorbed will vary depending on various factors, including climate, age of the concrete, porosity of the concrete, finish of the concrete, etc.

Change direction and continue applying the product as described in step one. Repeat, changing directions each time, until all the product allocated for the area is used.

For a larger area (more than 500m2), separating the slab into smaller pieces and completing all coats in that area may be more accessible before moving on to the next.
If a backpack sprayer is used for application, care must be taken to ensure Aquron does not blow onto any other surface.
Aquron cannot be removed from aluminium, glass or cars, once has dried on the surface.

Remove any gear from the slab once the application is complete. Dispose of empty drums and rubbish into on-site bins or take them with you to get the pails recycled. Take a photo of the finished slab.
In some situations, water coats may be required throughout the application. This can be due to hot weather, rain-damaged slabs, etc. If unsure, please contact your team leader, or seek assistance using the Markham Applicator WhatsApp chat.
N.B. Do not leave footprints and/or wheel marks when measuring or applying Aquron to freshly poured slabs
After application:
Open MJM application and fill out the following:
Litres used
M2 of slab/area applied product to
Time started
Time ended
Travel time there and back in HOURS
Travel distance there and back
Comment on application done
Mark up plan according to the area done
Upload ITP form
Clean all machines and their nozzles as often as possible to avoid blockages.
Ensure enough petrol for subsequent application. (Fill the container at end of the day)
Whiting and Gelling:
Whiting can happen when using Aquron 1000, Aquron 2000 and A2000 Medi+, however, is more likely to occur with Aquron 1000.
Whiting occurs for the following reasons;
Product has dried on the surface of the slab before it is absorbed
Too much product has been applied
The slab is highly burnished
To mitigate whiting/gelling during an application:
Apply a light coat first, and test the absorbency of the concrete. If the Aquron is not absorbing, apply a coat of water to dilute the product. (This usually occurs on 2nd or 3rd pass)
If the slab is not absorbing the product quickly, leave a longer time between applications, use water to dilute and a broom to work in the excess product, or remove it from the slab.
If the slab is still not absorbing product and the spread rate has not been met, call your team leader and they can schedule a visit for the next day to apply the remaining product.
Most Aquron 1000 jobs include a scrub before and after product application.
If a slab has whiting from a previous visit, scrubbing can help remove it.
