General Notes

  • Read through the fitting instructions before installation of the accessory. Install the accessory following the fitting instructions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle or the accessory.

  • Ensure all recyclable discarded vehicle accessory components and packaging are recycled following local recycling regulations.

  • It is always recommended that this accessory is fitted by a qualified Kia Technician.

  • Safely store and protect any removed vehicle components.

  • Ensure all bare metal surfaces are protected using automotive bare metal primer and touch-up paint, or suitable automotive rust inhibitor.

  • Remove all metal swarf and dust from all vehicle surfaces if surface is used for accessory installation.

  • Check that all work practices comply with safety standards.

  • Please wear appropriate clothing and use safety equipment.

Step 1

IMPORTANT

Always refer to the vehicle’s Workshop Manual when removing vehicle components.

  • Remove the 4 scrivets holding the bed cap and lift the bed cap from the tub. Retain all hardware for reinstall.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver.

Step 2

  • Locate and remove the feature on the RHS bed cap this is located underneath and at the front.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Note: In this video, the front mounting bracket has already been installed. Please disregard.

Step 3

  • Mark the bed Cap (RHS shown) with a pen as shown.

  • Trim the bed Cap along the marked line on the inside face.

  • Deburr and clean the edges.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • Tape measure, Marking pen, Suitable cutting device, Deburring tool.

Step 4

  • Mark the bed Cap (RHS shown) with a pen as shown.

  • Drill the bed Cap Ø38mm and trim along the marked line on the top face.

  • Deburr and clean the edges.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • Tape measure, Marking pen, Suitable cutting device, HolesawØ38mm, Deburring tool.

Step 5

IMPORTANT

Perform this step only if the tub liner is fitted.

  • Remove the T40 x 1 Bolt as indicated.

  • Mark the front corner of the tub liner with a pen as shown (RHS shown).

  • Trim the tub liner along the marked line on the front face.

  • Deburr and clean the edges.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Step 6

  • Remove indicated sealant obstructing the Inner Bracket (15/16) from seating correctly.

Tools Used

  • Utility Knife.

Step 7

  • Place the Inner Bracket RHS (16) on the tub, ensure it is seated correctly: if necessary remove any sealant that may be preventing proper alignment or fitment of the bracket.

  • Apply Rust Inhibitor (19) on areas where sealant is removed.

  • Loosely install the M8x20 Screws (24) and Washer (23) through the Inner Backet RHS (16) and Outer Bracket RHS (18) into the front top and sides of the vehicle tub as shown.

Note: Refer to the stamped letter on the brackets:

FL – Front Left; FR – Front Right

  • Torque all bolts to 20Nm.

  • Repeat step for LHS.

Tools Used

  • 13mm Socket and Torque Wrench.

Step 8

  • Refit the bed cap to the tub and secure with retained hardware.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver.

Step 9

  • Position the Center Tube (5) on a soft surface or mat with the warning label facing towards you as shown.

  • Install the Front Tube LHS (1) and the Front Tube RHS (2) into the forward half of the Center Tube (5).

  • Loosely fasten M8 Pan Screws (21) as shown.

Note: Do not tighten screws fully.

Note: Refer to the stamped letter on the tube end,

FL – Front Left &

FR – Front Right.

Step 10

  • Install the Rear Tube LHS (3) and the Rear Tube RHS (4) into the rear half of the Center Tube (5).

  • Loosely fasten M8 Pan Screws (21) as shown.

Note: Do not tighten screws fully.

Note: Refer to the stamped letter on the tube end,

RLS– Rear Left &

RRS – Rear Right.

Tools Used

  • 5mm Allen Key

Step 11

  • Push all four rubber Foot Cups onto the corresponding foot of the Sports Bar by aligning the Foot Cup to the tube as shown.

Note: Refer to the stamped letter on the Foot Cup:

FL – Front Left & FR – Front Right

RL – Rear Left & RR – Rear Right

Foot Cups have pins on top side to use as a locator. Pin must fit inside

sports bar inner plate hole.

Step 12

  • Using two people, carefully lift the Sports Bar and place it on a flat surface to make sure the legs are level.

  • Adjust tubes if required by loosening the x8 screws (21).

Note: The screw should be finger tightened only.

Tools Used

  • 5mm allen Key

Step 13

  • Fit two M8x40 Hex Head Screws (25) into the Rear Mount Block (14) as shown.

  • Place the Rear Mount Block (14) on the Rear Tube LHS (3) and secure with two M8x40 Torx Screws (27).

  • Torque the M8x40 Torx Screws (27) to 20Nm.

Note: Take note of Rear Mount Block (14) orientation (inside vs outside). M8x40 Hex Head Screws (25) to be passing through the Rear Mount Block (14) on the outside.

Tools Used

  • T40 Torx bit & Torque Wrench.

Step 14

  • Using two people, carefully place the Sports Bar into position on top of the tub bed caps.

  • Align the mounting brackets with the holes at the front (top and sides) and the rear (top) of the tub and slowly lower the sports bar assembly onto the tub.

Note: Sports Bar foot mounts to overhang inside of tub.

Step 15

  • Secure the brackets with two M8x25 Screws (29) and Washer (23).

  • Torque the M8x25 Screws (29) to 20Nm.

  • Fit Tube Cover RHS (13) by locking the hooks to the tube.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • 13mm socket & Torque Wrench.

Step 16

  • Secure the Rear Tube RHS (4) with two M8 Flange Nuts (26) and Washer Plate (22).

  • Torque the M8 Flange Nuts (26) to 20Nm.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Note: The tub (A) is shown in section view.

Tools Used

  • 13mm Socket & Torque Wrench.

Step 17

  • Install the two M5 Square nuts (28) into the Joiner Upper (6).

Note: Complete on both Joiner Uppers (6).

Step 18

  • Place the Joiner Upper (6) in place so as to correctly space the tubes within the center tube.

  • Torque the four M8 Screws (21) to 20Nm.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Note: Ensure the tubes are spaced so that the Front Tube is not touching the Rear Tube.

Tools Used

  • 5mm Allen Key & Torque Wrench.

Step 19

  • With the Joiner Upper (6) in place install Joiner Lower (7) over the bar and fasten together using two M8x85 Pan Screws (20).

  • Tighten to 1Nm. Do not over tighten.

  • Repeat for LHS.

Tools Used

  • 5mm Allen Key & Torque Wrench.

Place the Fitting Instructions in the glove box after installation is completed.
