Unless done properly cows will die.

2
Step 2 of 6

Initially you need to aim to get all cows actually eating beet. This can start by lifting bulbs and splitting and feeding in the paddock.

3
Step 3 of 6

It is best to start transition when they are still in milk and by putting them on the crop post milking when they are hungry.

4
Step 4 of 6

They need a long face with 1m per cow. If the mob is too big split the mob.

5
Step 5 of 6

Start at 1 kg per cow. Remember the total tonnage per Ha is the kg per square meter value. Half of this value is on the face as there are two rows making up a square meter. eg 30T crop has 3kg per square meter and 1.5kg per meter of face.

6
Step 6 of 6

Once all cows are eating beet up rate by 1 kg every 3 days.
