Introduction

Welcome to Chandon Australia. Before starting work, please ensure you've completed a site induction and signed off the checklist. An attendance form also needs to be signed off daily.

Health & Safety Policy

Chandon aims to provide a safe workplace for everyone. While working here, please:

• Work safely.

• Protect other people.

• Protect the environment.

• Follow all instructions.

• Never work if you are affected by drugs or alcohol.

• Bullying, harassment, and violent behaviour are not allowed.

• Smoking is only allowed in designated areas – please ask your supervisor.

Emergency Response

If there is an emergency, please:

• Stay calm.

• Follow site management instructions.

• If you need emergency services (like ambulance, fire brigade, police), call "000".

• The site manager will tell you where the evacuation areas are located.

Incident Reporting

Please report every incident, injury, and near miss to your supervisor right away to ensure first aid can be provided where needed and to help us prevent it from happening again.

Pedestrian Safety

Always wear high-visibility clothing or a vest when walking around the vineyard. This helps machinery and vehicle operators see you. Please also be aware of uneven ground and watch your step to avoid trips and falls.

Biosecurity

If you enter Chandon vineyards, please:

• Make sure you clean and disinfect your footwear in the footbath.

• Vehicles used on other farms, vineyards, or livestock areas in the last 7 days must be cleaned in the designated wash-down area.

Animals & Wildlife

Animals, kangaroos, sheep, wombats and other wildlife are present in our vineyards. To stay safe:

• Always keep a safe distance from them.

• Never walk through the vineyard alone when it is dark.

Pruning

This task involves cutting off wood from the vine so the vine can grow better next year.

Before pruning, ensure you:

1. Wear PPE: long sleeves, long pants, gloves suitable for pruning, safety glasses (canes can whip back), boots.

2. Use tools safely: use sharp secateurs, cut away from your body – not towards yourself, keep fingers clear of cutting edges

3. Protect your body: take a break to stretch or change posture regularly, don’t over-reach – take a step closer.

4. Work safely in the row: look out for other people pruning, watch for low wires, posts and irrigation lines, and be cautious of uneven ground.

Wire Lifting

This task involves raising and securing the movable wires on the vine trellis so they hold the shoots upright.

Before starting, ensure you:

1. Wear PPE: long sleeves, long pants, safety glasses (wires can whip back), gloves, and boots.

2. Check the work area: watch for broken posts and wires, irrigation pipes, and be cautious of uneven ground.

3. Use your body safely: Bend your knees, not your back, move your feet instead of twisting, don’t over-reach – take a step closer.

Cane Wrap-Down with Tie-Down Guns

This task involves using a tying gun to quickly and safely tie vine canes to the wire.

Before working, ensure you:

1. Wear PPE: gloves, long sleeves, long pants, safety glasses, boots.

2. Check tools: make sure tie-gun is working smoothly (no broken parts), and check there are enough ties loaded.

3. Work with care: watch for loose wires, broken posts, irrigation pipes that may be in the way, and be cautious of uneven ground.

Crown Thinning

This task involves removing extra shoots and growth from the top and middle of the vine so the grapes can grow better.

Before starting, ensure you:

1. Wear PPE: Hat, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, safety glasses and boots.

2. Use safe body positions: don’t over-reach, and move your feet instead of twisting your back.

3. Work with care: watch for posts, wires, irrigation lines, and be cautious of uneven ground
