Risks

Enviromental - Wind catching edge of blanket and lifting it up, prolinged exposure to heat from sun or cold overnight temperatures.

Calculate how many rolls are required to fully cover the concrete using the below equation:

1 x CONQOR Hydracure Blanket coverage: 324m2

Note: This coverage rate is not inclusive of the overlap required when laying blanket. This is why it is important to always overestimate and carry more than what is required as per the calculation.

Application:

Best practice is to roll down the long edge vs the short edge. However, depending on positioning of doorways and prevailing wind direction the short edge might be preferred.

Thoroughly wet slab surface to provide a complete and continuous cover of water.

Roll out the blanket ensuring that it remains on the outside edge and doesn’t bow out.The non-woven material side should be in contact with the slab surface. The coated side will be facing up.

Continue to spray water in front of the roll as it is being rolled out, it should be creating a wake of water in front of it.

This indicates that you have got sufficient water on the slab, if this stops then stop the roll and put some more water down before continuing. You will be able to tell if there isn’t sufficient water in parts as the blanket will stay white and not go dark.

When you get to the end of the slab lift the roll from the ends and roll it back enough to cover the end of the slab, wet the excess created as this makes it easier to cut, cut the blanket and lay it down.

Turn around and go back repeating steps 4-6.

For the return strip there should be a minimum of 75-100mm overlap over the previous strip. Ensure that this strip is also sprayed with water so that the blanket adheres to it.

If you get air bubbles under the blanket,use a squeegee or roller to sweep them out long ways down the blanket. You won’t be able to sweep them out the short edge as it has barriers stitched in that the air won’t pass through. The aim is to have the entire blanket in contact with the slab so that it does its job properly.

Using the Hydracure Rippa Tape, tape the blanket edges down. This can be done as you are rolling the blanket out or once it is all down. Walking down each overlapped edge every 2-3m put down one piece of tape. Run your hand over the tape once in place to ensure that it has adhered to the blanket properly

BLANKET CHECKS:

Internal slab: You will only need to check the slab once around the 3-4 days post application

External slabs: Every 1-2 days return to site and check in on the blanket. If any areas have been lifted and expose the slab put some water down and pull the blanket back over to cover it and secure with tape or a pail of water.

Removal: 7-8 days later return to site and remove the blanket.
