Installation of unit equipment for a new (non StorCo) or retrofit environment, including the mounting of locks, controllers, door strikes, breakout boards and the interconnecting cabling.
Ensure you have the right equipment: 2 nuts and bolts, a driver, and security bit for the strike; 3 nuts and bolts, and a hex key for the lock and bracket; the Unit Controller and bracket; the smart lock and bracket; fixings for both brackets; and packers for uneven floors.
Mount the strike: Align the strike with the lock, mark the holes, drill the holes, insert the bolts, and tighten them into the nuts. Be careful not to over-tighten.
Mount the smart lock bracket: Align the bracket with the strike and mark location, secure the bracket to the ground, screw the lock to the bracket losely with the supplied bolts and nuts.
Install the RJ12 drop cable: Place one end through the slot in the bracket and plug it into the lock. Then, place the hood on the lock and secure the cable with conduit or other means up to the Unit Controller.
Align and secure the smart lock: Slide the door towards the lock and close it to ensure the strike doesn't collide with the lock body. Tighten the lock into position, then open and close the door while sliding it left and right to ensure it locks properly every time.
Mount the Unit Controller: Screw the bracket body into the stiffener or wall. Attach the UC to the bracket head, ensuring it hangs down, and secure it with the lock nut. Connect the RJ12 cables (Net towards Mux) and mount the UC onto the bracket body.
Secure the cabling: Zip tie loose cables to the bracket and tidy up any excess by looping and securing it with zip ties. Ensure the RJ12 cables have a droop before reaching the UC sockets to prevent condensation from flowing down the cable and into the UC.
Test the operation: Ensure everything is fully secured and tidy. Test the door's opening and closing operation twice.
