Seed Evaluation process for the cutting room
1
Step 1 of 43

Start by picking up the bucket in the scoop. Then I'll take it around to the elevator around to get a bucket of potatoes.

2
Step 2 of 43

Place the Bucket on the ground - use the scoop to fill up the bucket

3
Step 3 of 43

After about 4 full scoops -the bucket is full, I will now take the bucket around to the table. Use best practice lifting technique - bend your knees when picking up the bucket.

4
Step 4 of 43

Back at the table, pop the scoop back on the shelf

5
Step 5 of 43

I will then check up on the board to see the ID number of what we're sampling.

6
Step 6 of 43

So then I will go to the iPad and turn it on with the button at the top

7
Step 7 of 43

I will check the ID number. Check that we've got the same number as on the board

8
Step 8 of 43

Press the Add QA button.

9
Step 9 of 43

We'll then go to cut seed type and we're going to choose "standard cut" seed.

10
Step 10 of 43

And we'll turn the scales on. And we'll start weighing the potatoes individually into all their sizes, which are labelled on the table.

11
Step 11 of 43

So we've got 30 grams or less.

12
Step 12 of 43

This one is 44 to 75.

13
Step 13 of 43

Over here is 76. That's a vector card.

14
Step 14 of 43

45 to 76. 76 to 95.

15
Step 15 of 43

Areas for the sizes

Areas for the sizes

16
Step 16 of 43

We'll then take the potatoes, start putting them on the scales and putting them in their groups

17
Step 17 of 43

When all are in thier groups, we will put the empty bucket on the scales and Tare the bucket to Zero. Press Tare. The display will read '0'

18
Step 18 of 43

Now we will count the number of potatoes in each pile - So here we've got 30 grams or less and we have none.

19
Step 19 of 43

So we'll go over here to the IPAD And in the 30 grams or less we'll then put zero.

20
Step 20 of 43

And then go to our next bracket, which is 31 to 44.

21
Step 21 of 43

And we count them - and that goes in the bucket. So we've got 20 there.

22
Step 22 of 43

So we'll go over here to the IPAD and we'll put 20 in that bracket of 31 - 34

23
Step 23 of 43

Then on to the next one.

24
Step 24 of 43

Repeat the process - count the potatoes into the bucket - then enter into the IPAD. Repeat this process for all of the size catagories.

25
Step 25 of 43

So with the whole bucket on the scales we will enter the full bucket weight into the IPAD. The weight in this example is 9518. We enter this into the IPAD sample weight.

26
Step 26 of 43

Then we will take the temperature. So we'll get this thermometer.

27
Step 27 of 43

Take the cover off.

28
Step 28 of 43

Turn it on. Put the thermometer in the potato.

29
Step 29 of 43

Then the temperature will come up, which is 14.9 in this example

30
Step 30 of 43

Take the potato off the probe

31
Step 31 of 43

Go to the IPAD and enter the temperature into the Temperture field. In this case it was 14.9. Enter your temperature.

32
Step 32 of 43

Then when we've done that we're going to press 'create' to upload it. Then press 'YES'

33
Step 33 of 43

Then we're going to press yes.

34
Step 34 of 43

Then it will be recorded on the iPad.

35
Step 35 of 43

So we're going to turn the thermometer off. Then we're going to pick the bucket up.

36
Step 36 of 43

Take the bucket back over to the elevator. Use heavy lifting/manual handling technique. Caution - Heavy Bucket

37
Step 37 of 43

Like so. Place the bucket back on the elevator and put the potatoes back in.

38
Step 38 of 43

Then we'll take our bucket back.

39
Step 39 of 43

Grab our scoop, pop it back in the bucket and place it back where we got it from.

40
Step 40 of 43

We will then turn the scales off.

41
Step 41 of 43

Get some water.

42
Step 42 of 43

And a cup. Just get the scales a bit of a wind down.

43
Step 43 of 43

And that's it.
