Step 1 of 8

Pre-Loading Safety Checks

  1. Vehicle Wheel Chocks In-Place

  2. Fork Extension Inspection

  3. Pallet Trolley Inspection

  4. Platform Ladder Inspection

2
Step 2 of 8

Transport the Pallet Trolley

  • Manual Pallet Trolley: Lift using fork extension slippers with tynes positioned close as possible to steer wheel under the heaviest part of the pallet trolley. Ensure it is balanced before moving.

  • Electric Pallet Trolley: Transport only in the approved purpose-built transport cage. Confirm the pallet trolley is secure inside cage before lifting and transporting.

3
Step 3 of 8

Position Mobile Access Platform

Safely position and secure the mobile access platform at the rear of the trailer before entering.

Operator must:

  • Position the platform flush against the trailer.

  • Lock the platform and ensure it is stable.

  • Open access gate as entering and close and latch once on platform.

  • Maintain three points of contact when ascending or descending.

4
Step 4 of 8

High Caution Zone

The last 12 ft (3.6 m) of the trailer is a High Caution Zone. Minimise time spent in this area and follow the approved loading method.

Operator must:

  • Maintain clear open communication with the forklift operator.

  • Move loads further into the trailer before turning.

  • Never turn the pallet trolley at the trailer edge

  • Pogo sticks must be fixed at trailer door when working in last 12ft of trailer

  • Last 8ft of trailer is loaded when Pallet Trolley and Operator have left the vehicle

5
Step 5 of 8

Deliver Pallets into the Trailer

Work together using clear communication to safely deliver pallets into the trailer while maintaining separation between the forklift and pallet trolley operator.

Operator must:

  • Maintain continuous clear open communication.

  • Pallet trolley operator to stand as far inside the trailer as practicable, clear of the forklift.

  • Forklift operator to place the pallet squarely and withdraw completely before the pallet trolley operator approaches.

  • Pull the pallet straight back before turning and positioning.

  • Repeat the process until the load reaches the 8 ft (2 pallet spaces) Red Zone.

Remove the Pallet Trolley & Exit the Trailer

Once loading is complete, safely remove the pallet trolley and exit the trailer using the approved access platform.

Operator must:

  • Position the pallet trolley at the rear of the trailer for forklift retrieval.

  • Stand clear while the forklift removes the pallet trolley.

  • Reposition and secure the access platform against the trailer.

  • Confirm the platform is locked and stable.

  • Exit the trailer using the platform ladder.

7
Step 7 of 8

Load the Final 8 ft (4 Pallets)

Complete loading of the remaining pallets using the forklift only.

Operator must:

  • Load the final four pallets using the forklift.

  • Position each pallet squarely against the previous load.

  • Minimise gaps between pallets.

  • Complete loading before installing the load restraint.

Step 8 of 8
<p><span style="font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.4;">Secure the final pallet row by installing the required Pogo Poles before the trailer is dispatched.</span></p><p></p><p>Operator must:</p><ul><li><p><span style="font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.4;">Confirm the access platform is secure and stable.</span></p></li><li><p><span style="font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.4;">Check the final pallets are correctly positioned.</span></p></li><li><p><span style="font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.4;">Install the required Pogo Poles into the trailer load track.</span></p></li><li><p><span style="font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.4;">Verify the load restraint is secure before removing the platform.</span></p></li></ul><p></p>

Secure the final pallet row by installing the required Pogo Poles before the trailer is dispatched.

Operator must:

  • Confirm the access platform is secure and stable.

  • Check the final pallets are correctly positioned.

  • Install the required Pogo Poles into the trailer load track.

  • Verify the load restraint is secure before removing the platform.
