How to descale and sanitize a Manitowoc Indigo NXT ice machine

The full detailed de-scaling and sanitizing procedure for Manitowoc Indigo NXT ice machines: shutdown and teardown, soaking and wiping down with Manitowoc cleaner/descaler (9405463) and sanitizer (9405653), running the automatic clean and sanitize cycles, and reassembly. Turn the ice machine off. After ice has fallen from the evaporator, press the power button to turn the ice machine OFF.

Empty the ice bin. Use an ice scoop to remove all ice from the storage bin.

Remove the top cover and evaporator dust cover. Lift the top cover to remove it, then lift and remove the evaporator dust cover.

<p>Remove the water trough. Depress the tabs on the right and left sides of the trough. Allow the front of the trough to drop as you pull forward to disengage the rear pins.

Ice damper (where fitted): press the damper to the left and flex the middle. Pull forward on the right side until the right damper pin is free, then slide the left pin out.</p>

Remove the ice thickness probe. Compress the hinge pin on top of the probe, then pivot the probe to disengage one pin and then the other.

If you want to remove it completely, disconnect the ice thickness control wire from the control board.

NOTE: Some models allow the wire lead to be disconnected at the probe. Lower the probe until the wiring connector is visible, disconnect the wire lead connector, then remove the probe from the ice machine.</p>

CAUTION: Do not immerse the water pump motor or electrical connector in liquid. Soak only the pump impeller and impeller housing, never above the red line marked on the pump. Electrical connectors must never be exposed to any liquid.</p>
